Episode: 103 - "Acknowledging the Shadow" with Armando Fierro

 30 March 2020

I've never understood why people like horror movies. Maybe it's feeling the safety of being at home while danger lurks only on a TV screen? Armando Fierro's horror was very real. He was a combat veteran trained in clinical psychology and hypnotherapy. I've gotta say, (not gonna lie...) you can hear me get a little flustered when he talks about watching a beheading and wanting revenge. So I had to check into my own Shadow - is there a part of me that could kill? Hate? Yes - there's the shadow in all of us. But it's what we do with it that shows how we're evolving.

As Armando  talks about PTS, I couldn't help but think about my interview with Valerie Pallotta who struggled with her own son's PTS journey. If you've struggled with anger, anxiety or PTS, you'll enjoy the wisdom Armando imparts.

  • The Shadow is a normal part of our every day life. Its not something to be feared, but rather to be used as a marker for areas we can improve in our lives.
  • Things that we hate outside of ourselves are things that we have within us!
  • They shouldn't be feared or hated; They can be used to expand our awareness of the world around us.
  • Shadow work, as used in Armando's process of "Acknowledging the Shadow," is fast, easy and very effective.
